IV. 2018 Plants from the Five Continents

6 and 7 October 2018

UPV/EHU Arboretum, Leioa-Erandio

The Iv Plants from the 5 Continents Fair will be held at the Arboretum on the University of the Basque Country Campus on 6 and 7 October 2018.

The fair is organised by Bizkaia Provincial Council’s Department of Sustainability and the Natural Environment and the University of the Country and with the support of Leioa and Erandio local councils, along with the cooperation of the BBK Obra Social programme.

Held for the first time in 2015, its goal is to bring together plant producers to exhibit the different species and varieties from around the world and it attracted large crowds in the last three fairs. It seeks to provide a showcase to improve commercial relations and it is also an opportunity to share growing techniques and expertise.

The Arboretum, where the fair will be held, was opened in 2008 and has a surface area of 19 Ha. and is home to over 1,700 trees from more than 130 species from the 5 continents. In addition to the site's great botanical interest, its prime location close to the Bilbao Metro and equipped with all the necessary services (buses, car parts, good access, conference rooms, etc.) makes it the ideal venue to hold this fair.

We would like this event to be consolidated as an annual event for collection plant producers, consumers and enthusiasts.

 

The Fair

The exhibitors will showcase their collections and you will be able to admire and buy, at really competitive prices, plants from the 5 continents, the majority of which are unknown in these parts but which can be easily grown in gardens and on balconies.

The Fair will be held in a superb setting, the UPV-EHU Arboretum, on the Leioa Campus, an exceptional place of interest for botanists and plant enthusiasts.

At the fair complex, visitors will be able to get their strength back as they try different local products and wander along the different paths through the Arboretum.

This is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a few pleasant hours in one of Bizkaia’s most beautiful natural areas.
